    Lockjack SRT??

I really thought a 6ft drop with that weight was going to do some damage, like sever the line. We also set the drop off center as most falls are off limbs so we added a bit of pendulum. Im currently putting together the other footage we got from the ground and working out the stop vs human body.

    Lockjack SRT??

Well a lot of people said that this setup wouldnt work or be dangerous as the Lockjack would easily sever the rope from a drop due to its bend ratio We did some tests. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fo-vh3dFt-0 <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Fo-vh3dFt-0"...

Yeah western red cedar, its called a dog tooth back cut. Taught at colleges to avoid the risk of barber chair, personally i use split level but Tom has only been out of college for a bit so i let him do what hes been taught rather than tell him different ways and he makes a hash of it.

    Tree felling vids

The reason why i cut lower on the stem sections that are evenly balanced is because its less likely to take the saw with it, i'll put together another video this weekend hopefully of a thuja we did a while back. Also ive been playing with the face depth to try and get the timber to hit the...

    Tree felling vids

Its called a Swedish cut, used a lot for chogging stems down in europe, removes a heck of a lot energy used to move timber sections with the normal step cut way. this way you can aim and drop it of with ease. Once you have a go you might be kicking yourself for having not used it before (i did...

Cheers, Theres another, better one in the pipeline. BUT with the Uk the weather is normally quite poor and filming in low light is terrible. Also we dont have huge open trees like in AUS so struggle to find anything to compete on the tree size of Frictionhitchery and Ropewrenchery. Thanks...

Cheers everyone, There was me thinking only Norfolk, and Netherlands were flat. ;) It was a great climb, there was a clear section of around 30ft where the tree had a few tear outs. The tree is on the remains of an old Stately home which was a WWII spitfire base and the owner had some pictures...

We had a play in this Cedar on Saturday, great fun had and yes norfolk is that flat. The windmills are around 13miles away and the cathedral is around 9miles away. Anyway the music most of you are probably going to hate, so i recommend putting the sound on mute and playing a cd of your choice...

Is grcs really worth the money??

What a video, ironically i have been weighing up between the two and was leaning towards the hobbs anyway. Here in the Uk these devices get used a lot more than in the US id guess. We have old medieval poorly set out towns and cities. Not to mention our row upon row of terrace houses that have...

I used one the other day, kind of thinking about buying one now, firstly when i moved it empty i thought the weight was all off. But once loaded it was really good for moving brash about. Might get it after the GRCS tho....
