I'm going to tangent off your post a little bit on that wedging tool, @pete mctree...hope you don't mind. You mentioned this issue in both posts, which made me think to highlight it. Folks who don't have much experience actually driving wedges to push a tree to commit to the face may well not...

A battery powered impact driver would seem an ideal mate. I also will look forward to your report, Pete.

Being within 5% or so of the max load rating of the trailer is most definitely cutting it close. And it matters not what you "know for a fact" happened when you overloaded that poor thing before. It still was overloaded, which is a recipe for problems of many flavors. Be a shame to screw that...

You don't have to jump from 42" bar to 72" bar. A 60" was what I used as my biggest set up on my 084 with the USFS here in big tree country. If you cannot do it with 5 feet of bar, it might not need doing :). Once you get past 42 inches on this scale of chainsaw, you have a very unwieldy...

Not to put too fine a point on it, @stig my old friend...but that is taking the short bar ethos right up to the edge, isn't it? Now I'm wondering if you might be suffering from severe short bar psychosis. Might I suggest you contact the crisis center at mybaristooshort.com? :P;):D

One problem with larger dogs on a wee saw is the loss of usable bar length can be significant. And a tophandle saw hanging at your hip in the tree, wearing excessively aggressive dog teeth, can have a tendency to bite you in the leg mighty hard :). Nonetheless, I hate little bitty dogs, and...

If you want a pocket on your chaps, it's an easy hand stitch job. I stole the side tool pocket off a pair of worn out Carhart's, and sewed it to the belt just aft of my hip. It worked fine most of the time...only once that I can recall I lost the scrench out of it. Fabbing up a flap top with...

Years ago, I laid a sheet of black Visqueen that I'd taken off the garden (winter weed and rain cover) on the lawn in the sun to dry...just for about 15 minutes. Browned up the grass quite nicely.
