The dreaded stripped threads, Husky 572

I know a guy who can weld the magnesium hole shut and drill a new one.

Can you JB weld a nut on the back side of the hole? You can get brass threaded inserts from mcmaster-carr often found pressed into nylon, like what the carb screws go into on a 201t handle. You can drill the hole out, clean and dry it well, and JB weld a brass insert in there. I've used one to...

Use Alkylate fuel like the overpriced Stihl Motomix, or the more affordable Aspen 2. I'd add a little extra Echo Red Armor oil to either. Engines will richen up in the heat and humidity. Make sure the air filters stay clean.

I already knew this stuff, but most people don't really understand how things work, or consider the small details that makes things work, so I like videos like these:

    The Axman

I once tried to race someone felling pines with a bowsaw, and he had an ax. The ax won by a long shot, though in my defence the bowsaw wasn't nearly as good as it could have been. I think Axes are only worth while in soft wood, but I stand to be corrected.

Stop Using "Double Fisherman's Knot" to Refer to the "Poacher's Knot" AKA "Double Overhand Noose!"

I just call it a fisherman's knot, because I only tie one, and it is the knot used to tie to a fishing hook. I used to wonder if the "double" meant the 2 wraps before passing the end through them.

Would be nice to have a grapple on the end. Maybe make it out of aluminum or magnesium to save weight.

Welders? Any welders on this site?

I disagree, as far as what I meant in my earlier post. There's still a lot of skill involved with chainsaws and ropes. We aren't cutting trees with robots. That's like comparing electric welders with some sort of brazing or forge welding. We're talking about robots vs people actively running the...

Welders? Any welders on this site?

Not using robots could in theory help society, because if people have to learn to do things well and right the first time, while having attention to detail, then they might use that behavior in daily life. But, then some people just never learn to do anything well.

But this isn't just an ad I'm seeing, it was an email from the company for just looking at their website from a google search. Too far in my opinion, as is listening. I tried editing personalized ads once, but then they change rules and default to doing what they want with your info. I guess I...

    How'd it go today?

Apparently Google is giving away my email address, or is emailing me ads in the name of other companies. I looked something up today, read a couple web pages, and a few hours later I notice an email from that company. That's got to be breaking some sort of law.
