-29 c with a -37 c windchill this morning. Refreshing to say the least. I was doing a little dance to keep warm at work and at one point climbed up and down 30' of structural ladder to get the blood pumping.
We're supposed to get the worse spring storm in decades starting overnight tonight into Friday. Very annoying. The robins just got here and it was starting to feel like winter was finally over. They're hyping it like it's going to be the Big One. 50cm of snow and high winds. Whoopee!!
I have a generator. I'm sure we'll be fine just wasn't expecting winter to come so soon. Should melt enough for Halloween unless we get a cold snap which isn't unheard of.
We had 170mm of rain last month and my sump pump has been putting in over time. Now we have a blizzard that's supposed to hang around all weekend. The lights are flickering which doesn't make me feel too good. Frigging stupid weather!
Cold and windy today. Blowing snow off the fields closed the highway and the wife is stuck at her sister's in the Winnipeg. If you're ever thinking of moving to Manitoba, don't. Who am I kidding? The only people moving here are migrant workers from overseas who don't know any better.
Defensive driving, Squish! I remember driving to Olds, Alberta one winter, icy roads and all and the local psycho's passing me like I was parked. Number 2 highway from Cowtown. They call it #2 because everybody drives like chit.
I replaced power steering hose last winter and again this winter. They'll only warranty for 3 months because a Caravan is notorious for blowing them.
The tips of my big toes felt like someone was holding a lighter to them all night. Minor frostbite I suppose.
The plant crashed too, so we're all outside doing emergency work. Tarping in the bottom of the cooling towers. Crazy how warm -15 c will feel after this.
Rain and wind today and thundershowers this evening. May 30 and I was wearing a belaclava for part of the day. I can't wait to complain about the heat and humidity. Stupid weather.
We're in the middle of what has been called the "Flood of the Century" in Brandon, Manitoba. It's giving everyone something to talk about at least. Normally the river is on the other side of the treeline at the top of the picture.
We're getting a good dump of blowing snow right now. The area is already on flood alert and more moisture is what we don't need. I'm at a higher elevation than the river but if the sewers back up then we're all gonna be in shit. Pun intended. We need more cold weather to keep a slow melt going.
