Until recently 540i was indeed the best battery-powered saw. Quite recently, I had the opportunity to test the Stihl MSA 220t, and I want to say that now it is the best saw.

Whatever knot I use, I tend to try terminating it with a daisy chain for easy untiing. one of my bosses started daisy chaining everything. It beats taking 1-5min to work a well tightened knot loose.

Total joke. I presume calling the guy a tree guy is a massive stretch.

It works quite well IME and one of the reasons to use it is that it can be tied so quickly by flinging the bight around with momentum instead of slowly tying it. All those other knots are good too of course. These days if I need MA for a rope pull I whip out the Wall Hauler because it is...

@cory to me that seems like it would lock down very hard since it's basically a noose or a fisherman's, and a simple clove hitch would be just as good for a 3 to one like that, as would a triple bowline, alpine butterfly, catspaw, or a ton of other knots.

How busy are you this year compared to other years?

That got my attention too. Dunno what's typical for this stuff, and I'm sure there's jobs where people are cool with "some time this year", but I'd think most would be calling other companies when told "9 months".

How busy are you this year compared to other years?

9 months??? Firstly, I don't believe it even a little bit and secondly that's just plain stupid. As if there is a numb nuts on earth who would wait 9 mos. for treework. 2+ months is insane imo opinion but 9 months? Um no. FB BS to the max

Ive used that before tho its much cooler when you whip/flip the bight around the rope instead of carefully wrapping it like in the vid. :dude:

For anyone else who could barely understand that guy as he mumbled the name of the knot he demonstrated in the TreeStuff video @lxskllr shared, it's an extremely obscure, unidirectional midline knot called the Rosenbein Cinch. I just scoured the interwebs for any information about it and its...

Wow, never seen that knot nor this video before and I created an almost identical, novel, midline knot for mechanical advantage also. I named it the "Static Klemheist," except, after posting the video, I realized it's actually a static Hedden. Unlike the knot in the video, mine is tied slightly...

I don't sta.rt so good in the morning. But I try to make up for it in the tree. I'd be all over the stick

Nothing better than being full stick and trying to make a cut and the saw is pushing you out of the cut. It looks like you are using a crosscut saw. Lol

    How'd it go today?

After two hours, it's a stripped pole. Guess we're going to do the other one on Monday. Tomorrow will be a short day, drop a fat ponderosa up by the casino then I've got the rest of the weekend off.

Just around the house I'm happy with grabbing the wimpy Kobalt battery saw for a few convenient cuts. Though, its so wimpy i often give serious thought to getting out the ported 2511t, but its too much noise and exhaust stink for a few cuts around the house.

    How'd it go today?

I don't mind taking it easy, if the pay is the same, though I get tired and sluggish if we slow down too much. I worked for a guy who'd take like an hour and a half to get in the tree. I'm not sure how they manage to be that slow, but otherwise he was pretty good.
