    Clearance for the road. Structural pruning for bad structure, if present, e.g. a badly included fork may warrant some gentle reduction. You're not looking at freak ice- loading, right?

    Square-cut with rollers or sliders works. Slants, too, infrequently.

    That's overcomplicating it. Reg had a block driver for very large rounds. Idk that it made it to production.

    I thought it was a computing power thingy, technically speaking. I agree that especially for strangers, quoting makes it easier. An outsider to a bunch of friends with inside jokes and slang and relationships will have a hard time getting into the group because it's hard to follow the culture.

    Ropewalking up a vertical pole with a flipline is easy, with practice. Toes touch the trunk. Might help build the motion. Backwards bicycle motion. Shorter steps to start. I ropewalked 2-3 days ago was was taking more than 12" strides.

    Momentum/ speed helps poor hinges. Pull hard and fast enough and the tree goes where you pull it. We weakened and ripped down a horrible maple against the lean with a small skidder's skookum winch. No hinge. Too rotten.
