Bottoms up for Butch! Not sure he'd appreciate my fiction project cluttering up the servers, but I'm glad nonetheless.

Here's to Butch, and The Treehouse, still alive to this day. The House would probably surely be a bit different if he were still at the helm, same as it would be different under any other person's leadership, but I bet he'd be tickled to know that The House is living on. Here's to you...

    Lantern collections?

I transferred to propane like B as well. I refill my bottles also from a 5 gallon tank to avoid the waste factor. The only issue I have with propane lanterns is that they are a bit noisy compared to white gas.

    Lantern collections?

I would say on balance it is "better". It is far less finicky, requiring little of the operator in terms of understanding it's minor eccentricities, unlike a liquid fuel Coleman stove, especially one that was pushing 70 years old :). So M is just as capable of firing it up and using it as I...

Regardless of my issues with Butch and his issues with me, one thing he did bring to this forum was interesting content. He started conversations and kept things fresh with new content every single day. Carl has done a fine job managing this forum since Butch passed but he does not bring the...

Never tried it. Never really had alcohol, either. I did try some wine at a winery in West Germany in 1987, but that didn't add up to half a shot glass worth.

    You into mycorrhizae?

Does art imitate life, or is there simply art in the act of living? Spoiler alert! The magic mcguffin of my current fiction project, the pivotal technology that makes the whole thing work, is essentially a super-intelligent, sapient fungal system. When mankind finally found it, and learned to...

    What can you do?

I have a theory that the reason why Gin and Tonic was so effective against mosquitoes for the Brits in Africa, had substantially less to do with the quinine and significantly more to do with absolutely nothing wanting to bite into something soaked in gin-sweat. Good God, I could smell myself...

    What can you do?

Maybe mosquitoes aren't attracted to you, so you don't notice them?
