Is there a concern about losing scale with the high stumps

Trees have a lot of flare, and flutes. Have to make higher stumps to get out of it. Like real high.

Take it in two pieces if you can. Fold it in half with a wide face, then again at the union. Leave room to flush your cut and still be outside the branch collar. Also, never leave such stubs level, always give an angle so it sheds as much water and snow as possible.

I don't mind leaving habitat, but those trees are at risk of smashing stuff, not worth the problems down the road.

I do have a foot ascender . I think it's a CMI . I used to do all my climbing in my corks (Viberg 105T ) then in my White Smoke Jumpers . Now I wear Scarpa Fuego's a Lot . Extremely comfortable in the spurs . And I think they will work great with the foot ascender . Im going to give it a shot...
