Climbing the tree vs climbing a rope in the tree

What's your dominant mode in the day to day climbing work? Where I live, rock climbing is popular. Most tree climbers are at least a little bit into rock climbing. They tend to climb the tree more than the rope, some even look down on throwline lol. What's your style? I am 99% of the time...

The Humboldt is primarily for speed of production

Something to consider is that many high value Eastern hardwoods are destined for veneer plants so there is an incentive to maximize the length of the most valuable portion of the tree.

The Humboldt is primarily for speed of production

...additional maybe 6” of log that an eastern faller gets by trimming flare for a face cut and then trimming the rest of the flares is worth the time. ***critical point - the 6”, or even 4” is probably not worth it by the board foot, but it might mean the difference between getting a whole log...

    How'd it go today?

On my way to Arizona to help my brother build a snow roof for his new trailer. Another 20 sum hours on AmTrak! Whoooo! Through the warzone that is Los Angeles! All's well though, I've got my emotional support axe in my sleeping bag, so I'll be as safe as can be asked.

I was wondering and looked it up. In professional matches they have up to 4 minutes to do it. It creates suspense and you try and out psyche the opponent and disrupt their rhythm. The scattering of salt is a good luck thing. Like all traditional martial arts they are deep rooted with tradition.

I really have no idea why they do that, or anything actually. I am mostly like a dog watching tv when it comes to sumo, as Butch would say. They do that every time though, a lot of hype, quick match, it's funny to me, I like sumo. I've not tried it myself though, not much of a combatant lol...

Do you happen to know some names off hand? I'm not even worried about the price but something with less going on visually and buttons wise would be nice.

I'm grandfathered in at $39/month, so I doubt I'll be moving. It does what I need, plus a lot more I don't. You can easily export client contact info, the rest of the info is exportable but not as clean to import elsewhere I think.

I still use it. It's more useful for larger crews. There other options for simple, cheaper software, I think. I've got 8-10 years of clients stored. Too busy to reconsider.

Nice! Why'd they walk off the mat in the beginning, just bc if they don't feel ready yet that's what they do? Have you ever tried sumo yourself?
