    I ran into a similar problem: lots of coals, not as much heat. The problem is how I load it. I normally put the logs in sideways, like you would in any classic fireplace, and pack them in this way for a long burn and to have lots of buried coals left by morning. The wood gas still easily burns...

    when I bought my maasdam the saw shop gave me 150ft of 5/8 rope to run in it, wouldn't fit at all, get a hard lay 1/2" 3 strand and it'll work great I use a prusik on the working side with a micropulley and run the tail through it like a Z rig so I can pull the system tight with a 3:1 using the...

    IMO replace it or resplice it if the cordage is good.

    I think strength would be compromised, an inch of pullout is bound to be most of the full diameter burry.

    Just what I did. Do you think it would fully unravel the splice if load would be applied??

    A slipped splice is a failed splice. It's possible it could be reset, but cutting it off and resplicing is better logic.
