    What can you do?

My neighbor to the north a bit over 1/4 mile has a horse barn in line with my house. They put up a led outside light that was on all the time that looked liked the rising sun to me. I like to look at the night sky, northern lights, comets, etc. I finally found the right time to mention it...

    What can you do?

At this point the full 15 or so acres along our southern flank and on eastward beyond our southeast corner are completely cleared of all trees. There were about a dozen piles of trees, limbs and assorted slash scattered across the open ground, some of which are larger than our house. So far...

Great day bumming around the mountains, little walkabout, Christmas shopping in little gift shops, and great food.

    Wood stove heat

I ran into a similar problem: lots of coals, not as much heat. The problem is how I load it. I normally put the logs in sideways, like you would in any classic fireplace, and pack them in this way for a long burn and to have lots of buried coals left by morning. The wood gas still easily burns...

How well does 5/8 rope work in Maasdam?

when I bought my maasdam the saw shop gave me 150ft of 5/8 rope to run in it, wouldn't fit at all, get a hard lay 1/2" 3 strand and it'll work great I use a prusik on the working side with a micropulley and run the tail through it like a Z rig so I can pull the system tight with a 3:1 using the...

    splice failure

IMO replace it or resplice it if the cordage is good.

    splice failure

I think strength would be compromised, an inch of pullout is bound to be most of the full diameter burry.
