Brilliant! Laying a tree down gently

For many species, that wouldn't work. But it sure did work fine there.

I'm thinking a snowmobile might serve you best :D.

    How'd it go today?

Sorry @friedrich, I missed your post somehow. To answer your question...that would certainly have stopped any slippage from happening, but... First most, I was using two prusiks on two separate winching arrangements; one to advance the pull and one to capture the gain while the first was reset...

I wondered about that face cut myself. Big wood there, @Mick! Nice work.

Nonetheless, @stikine gives valuable insight to the fiber pull question.

Burned up a couple of prusiks and glazed the main line when the prusiks slipped a bit...

    How'd it go today?

Here are some pics. We have started working on it...I was able to buck and flop the root plate back in place, more or less. I ran out of steam and daylight on Saturday, left the thing tensioned and I felt like it was getting fairly close to tipping point. Woke up the next morning to see it...

    How'd it go today?

It seems there is never enough room in machines these days, to actually work on them. The last rig I owned that had really good space under the hood was my 1953 Willys wagon :D.

You live in one weird place, David :). The pics of that canyon with the catwalk and sycamores were great.

Presidio is hiring 2 climbers $55-$65/hour federal benefits.

I only mention the Trump administration because of the current issues federal employees are experiencing and how Presidio employees might want to be clear-eyed about that situation, Brian. I cannot see where I said anything to make you think I am calling him evil. Any administration on either...
