    How'd it go today?

I got thrown in the middle. I usually tell them they have to pay for it and get the HO to sign off on the additional work. They usually balk and go away. Gratifying to watch I must admit.

    How'd it go today?

I worked in a neighborhood where the neighbors, two of them two different sides of my custy’s property, wanted me to cut out more than my custy and I had agreed on. One guy wanted me to cut the tree at 30’ easily taking out half of the crown of the tree. He felt that the tree could reach his...

1-2’ falls if you are in a position to tend slack. You might be on the rock and need to make a move or two before you can get comfortable enough to tend your device. Or you could use a GIBBS on a vertical line. It was made for fall arrest with ease of tending vertically.

I have belayed may people with a grigri and never found slack tending an issue, 10.2 mm was my preferred line size. IMO a lot of tree gear isn't suited for the dynamic energy created during a fall while rock climbing.

Any climbing gyms near by you can visit, meet some peeps, and see if you can join them for an outing? Give a call into IME up in North Conway NH they have a climbing school and I’m sure they know or have groups you can join in your neck of the woods.

    Wall of Shame: Wannabe Experts

To be honest that’s not even a good cut for crane picks. A bypass or straight thru is better for vertical wood. But the best cuts are made when you have an understanding of leverage and wood fiber strength in a given situation. What works with one tree might not work in another tree. Knowing...

    Wall of Shame: Wannabe Experts

French-Canadian is my guess. But actually pulling on the line would have helped immensely. Just playing devils advocate here but maybe it was an insurance fraud thing. Owner hires Meth Mouth Tree to do the job, set it up to look like an accident, but intentionally put the tree on the house...

I’d love to have 54°. Mid 80’s, humid, high dew point, and mother fukkin mosquitos galore.

You know what Jeeps call full sized trucks? Depth finders. Jeeps are an acquired taste for sure. The older ones are where it’s at but anything after 2000 is highly suspect. I know you can get a jeep upgrade to a 3/4 ton chassis and a Cummins. Those are pretty badass.
