Wildlife reintroduction in PNW , Grizzly Bear ... really ?

Our DNR has just announced we have a breeding population of Cougars in the UP.....pics of 2 cubs taken on private property. It must have hurt them bad to admit that, they denied for years they were even in Michigan. Ed

Our weather has finally broke after 2 months of freezing temps, 2days in the 50's was a welcome change. 2 hours in the woods got me 2 nice dead ash, they were down, but supported off the ground. Still decent firewood. Ed

The New Offical Mutts of the House thread

A friend had a male GS. Great dog, wouldn't leave the yard....until he smelled a dead deer on my adjoining property. He would then drag it home, one body part at a time and eat it.... We spent many hours looking for Zeuss's "stash" of deer parts. Yes, I do miss that danm dog! Ed

Not to that extent here....we've had mild enough winters our deer haven't really herded. Go 5 miles south, yes, hundreds of "wild" acres, fewer houses, yup, every year. One can see 100+ in some fields..... Ed

Deer....they have herded up like I've not seen in years. We've been cold, 1 day above freezing since x-mas, its really changed their paterns. Now we have snow, 4" or so, no easy food, theres no leftover grain from combines today, fall tillage removes that. East side of our road is no mans...

Wildlife reintroduction in PNW , Grizzly Bear ... really ?

Similar to the release of wolves in Michigans UP, they were not needed or wanted. Pretty much have destroyed the deer herd in some areas... Or the effin turkeys released by me....nobody hunts them now, predators don't dent the population and farmers hate the destructive bastards. Ed

I finished blocking up th damned Hickory today and spread the pieces out with the Bobcat so I can quarter them. Came home and got the 084, might as well start....question was, what would run out of fuel first, me or the saw? I did..... Ed
