So, what did everyone not in the US use back in the day? Was it American stuff that was imported? Similar stuff made in-country? Something altogether different? Did everyone evolve about the same time, or was there a leading innovator?
Willans (UK), Buckingham (USA) Fixed suspension point.
Then Komet (French?) sliding bridge. Others were Edelrid, Tree Austria...European not sure which ones.
But I wouldn't call my climbing career especially early, 2002
Some imported kit - the willans harness was the n stay for many. GO parachute made a horrendous ball breaker, as did Troll (Manchester) which were similar to the 4d harnesses without leg loops. Not much of a selection mid 90’s when I started.
Such a cool question. I would be interested to see pictures. Weaver butt strap saddle seem unchanged over the years. If you go on eBay you can find some old looking ones. I looked up Troll and all I found were toy trolls!
