O.C.G.D. Thread, part two

What makes you say that, Kevin?

I was wondering the same thing? I'd suspect the opposite of Kevin, that cmi would be acutely aware of bend radius. Seems it would be in their interest to be up to snuff on it.

That's a sweet looking block. Tiny looking.

This is gear I guess, not sure where to ask this...

What's the best cordless drill/impact for drilling holes for cabling?

Dewalt or Milwaukee?

Brushless?

Volts?

I've been using a corded drill for awhile now and well, I'm doing a cabling job over a pool and would hate to drop an electric cord in to it on accident.

Pretty sure you could safeguard against that with the rest you can do, but its useful to have a good, cordless drill to go along with a good, corded drill.

Milwaukee"s new (M8?) line up of tools seems very tough to beat. I researched it at the time Carl bragged up their 1/2 impact as having the most torque of any of the batt torque wrenches.

Two things I found were that I needed to be careful which of their 1/2 wrenches I bought because there were several models, and were going to all brushless motors at the time but had a few things that weren't switched over yet. I forgot why the brushless was better other than the obvious of not having brushes to wear out - not enough incentive.

I switched over from Bosch and love all the tools I have.

Milwaukee M18 Fuel brushless tools for me! I have used the drill for cabling 16" wood for Riguy thru cabling with no issues, drill a little, clean the hole, and repeat.

I think you’ll do fine with either brand. I’m kinda biased because our mechanic uses dewalt and I see the abuse he puts them through. Another friend loves Milwaukee but I’m not around him everyday. I would say go with a drill over the impact for cabling.

I can run ship augers for pegging timbers with my M18 Fuel 1/2" drill. They offer Hole Hawg, and Super Hole Hawg drills for really heavy duty drilling.

The M18 fuel sounds like a dynamo...

I'm going to Lowe's today and get one...
See what they have.
Someone said dewalt for durability...I can be hard on equip.

Had a partial blowout (threw the tread, but kept the air!) the other day on my newer dump trailer, heavily loaded. I pulled onto the paved shoulder, grabbed the Milwaukee and the hydraulic bottle jack, and while my son-in-law got the spare down off the tongue, I jacked it up and pulled the wheel. Fastest flat I've ever changed. Stopped under 5 minutes. Love the Milwaukee...

I can run the screw jack in my Jeep with a 9/16" socket. Jack that sucker up like a Formula 1 car.

Lowes doesn't carry Milwaukee as far as I know. The M18 Fuel 2763 kicks the asses of all the other impacts. The new M18 Fuel 2767 kicks the ass of the 2763.

Do some homework. Some of the better tools are not available at Lowe’s or Home Depot. Not saying they don’t carry quality but there is usually a higher end tool that they don’t stock. Could be different these days though.

Makita played that game, but I have found no evidence of that with the other brands. An M18-2767 should be the same tool, no matter where you buy it, for example.

Well. I started at Lowe's...almost bought the dewalt 20v cordless drill...but they were in stock but not present..means stolen... went to home despot and bought the Milwaukee M18 2701 compact drill/driver kit for $216...
I guess it's not fuel.

I bought the drill for the attachment to the bit.

How does one put a drill bit on an impact gun that has a 1/2" drive?

Impact drill was being thrown into the discussion some. It has a normal chuck.

I think M18 automatically makes it the Fuel version. I forget the distinction "Fuel" was but it was important.

Dave I googled the Milwaukee 2767 and only come up with their 3/8 inch 90? impact. Is that what you're talking about?

2767 is the new high torque 1/2" impact. Comes up in Google. The non Fuel won't have the power of the fuel drills. Fuel means brushless, which means more power, better battery life, and longer tool life. The impact drivers only accept 1/4" hex bits.

I decided it was time to try the new (actually aging) rage....took about an hour to splice up while watching a movie with my daughter. Lazy Sunday afternoon...
