While farting around in the Czech Republic we encountered some local enthusiasts out for a ride.
Thought I'd share it with the motorcycle lovers in the House:

The Czech built Jawa was a staple of my youth.
An incredibly smoky , very reliable 350 cc, it was exported to most countries in Europe.
The Velorex 3 wheeler, that was just a flimsy skeleton covered in canvas, the Czech kept to themselves, mostly.

We were standing by the road side, looking at something, when this passed us: P1040832.JPG

A genuine WTF moment!
So we jumped into the car and followed the damned thing for over an hour, figuring it would run out of gas before we did.

Eventually it turned into a small side road and as we came around the last corner, we realized that we'd found the mother lode:D

They hold an annual gathereing at the hotel, since it is only 3 km from where the bikes were made.

Just dig these pictures and then read the link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Böhmerland_(motorcycle)

Honestly, that was the highlight of the trip.

I'd come across a video of one on "Jay Leno's garage" once, so I recognized it, but to see it going through the mountains with 3 passengers was something else.

This one was found in a garage last year.
All they did was change the tires and start the engine up and adjust carb and timing.

Talk about a barn find!!!!!!!-

Be kind of hard to drive, since you can't see past the " sidecar".

So I bought the Commando!

Paid through the nose but it's clean, original and rides nice.

I always knew what it meant, but I didn't know the origin.

Meaning: To pay a high price; to pay dearly.

Origin: Comes from the ninth-century Ireland. When the Danes conquered the Irish, they imposed an exorbitant Nose Tax on the island's inhabitants. They took a census (by counting noses) and levied oppressive sums on their victims, forcing them to pay by threatening to have their noses actually slit. Paying the tax was "paying trough the nose."

Haha! You dont have to justify it to me.

I use that line on the wife all the time. But, honey, its a good investment!

Usually when I want to buy a gun or something.

Thats interesting Butch. I did not know that either. Freaking Danes!
