How do you sharpen saw chain?

I always use a handle the thought of sticking the tine in my palm isn't a good one. Plus I use the eye in it to lock my stump vise.

I use Stihl handles and they have a "eye" or elongated hole in them that I use to tighten the thumb screw on my stump vises.

I tried the rake handle trick today but couldn't get the hang of it so I reverted back to my old ways

I've pretty much always gone handless as well, but I do often think about the possible impalement. If I do use a handle, it has to be round, I don't like the flat ones.

Willie:

If you just get a stump-vise (you can pound them into logs too) then you'll be able to use two hands on the rake handle. ;)

Willie, any chance of a video of the rake handle experience? The photo almost looks staged.

You need some linseed oil on that handle or you'll have problems.

What is it with you PNW guys anyway, everything has to be BIG.8)

Those two guys in front of the tree don't look very big compared to the tree.

More like a pair of midgets in fact.

There is a current engineering project in this country to convert Northwest Tree Guy Ego into consumable fuel for automobiles. The future looks bright!
