Fishing 2015

I hadn't heard that Squish, they closed the state of Oregon to fishing after 2 pm every day except for my favorite stretch of the Rogue River

Today my kiddo and I are gonna paddle/drift a good 3hr+ stretch of river the Shuswap river. I'm really looking forward to it.

Got in from work yesterday, the tide was low so the bride and I went scalloping. We anchored up, put up the dive flag, proceeded to get 'em and I hear a boat coming. I pop up and about a 20 foot flats boat is bearing down on us at high speed. My wife is about thirty yards south of me with no idea the boat is coming. I start jumping, waving and hollering as he is on track to run her over. At the last minute he veers and just misses her. It might not have been the Christian thing to do, but if he would've stopped, I could've hurt him real bad at that moment. Haven't had the adrenaline flowing like that in a while.

Scary, Ray. I've seen that happen with near misses when on a bicycle. People just carry on like nothing at all was out of the ordinary, often probably afraid to stop. On the other hand, i remember one lady that stopped her car, got out and approached me, and then bowed profusely over and over. It worked pretty well to dissipate the anger. "Let's be careful", is all I could muster up to say. :|:

Well handled again Jay. I probably wouldn't have been as nice to the guy in the boat. By law he should've given us 300' instead of 30. I see some crazy stuff on the bay and at the boat ramp. It's one reason we're rarely on the water on weekends.

If it hadn't been so expensive Willie I'd have thrown my mask at him, I took it off and was waving it and my snorkel flew off and landed about twenty feet away. You're pretty helpless in the water. I'm looking into a waterproof 12 gauge;). Pop up like a Navy Seal and I bet they'd give you a little more room.

How about some helium balloons on your dive float.

They work great for making a 3' tall kid more trackable in some low visibility situations.

Just some pics of my boy catching anything we can while on break. His Grandpa in some of the pics.

Some days we went panfish only fishing and would catch 200plus fish in one day on ultralight set ups.

Nope never tried gar. Trash fish to me in the Ohio river. But they make it interesting just like the big drum. Just never know what you are reeling in.

Actually the backstraps out of a good sized longnose out of clean water are very good. White flaky meat. It's like cleaning an armadillo though. Tin snips work good once you get a hole in the hide.

I dig the one with the jail uniform on.

Florida livin!!!!
