Buck shot muffler

I wouldnt let that guy touch anything of mine. JMO. I got took by him just buying parts one time years ago. Good usable parts NOT! Broken and cracked parts going to trash bin next should have been said.

Get hold of Mike Manley from Iowa. He does that shotgun mod stuff on the side.

Working with other people that aren't so appreciative of the noise, can be a problem. Good to be mindful of damage to your own ears as well. That can happen both relatively quickly, and slowly over time.

Some saws won't idle without the chain moving when the muffler is too much opened up.

I'm back to wanting nice and quite saws again.

I hate noise!

Whaaaaat???????

Do any 8 hour a day saw work, Irvin?
Or just fiddle with repairs.

40 years of running just stock saws have screwed my ears up as bad as I could wish for.

While I was rebuilding a 272 for a friend. He was thinking he might want me to muffler mod it.

Well after she was all together and many brews later still hmm hawing about muffler mod. I explained how open the 272 muffler already was and would just be opening the exit and it will get louder and carb adjustment. Explained 272 will not see gains that some of the choked up saws will see like a echo or stihl 290-390 saws do. 272 already breathes good IMO.

Well I finally had a idea. I took my stock muffler 445 and my muffler modded 505 to the back testing log. I let him make cuts with both. Then ask him what he wants to cut with for hours.

272 still has stock muffler. ;)

I'm not convinced they are more effective than just another hole in the muffler .Cosmetically they might look cool if a person is into that .

Personally I think about being cool a lot, when I log.
The imported hickory shirts and caulk boots are for that reason only.

I have at least as many years behind the throttle as Stig but of course not the hours .

40 plus years of that and industrial noise has left me with a ringa ding in the ear .Of late I do wear plugs or muffs, a little too late perhaps .A word to the wise, use them.
