Like others I'll use all of those methods in appropriate scenarios. Maybe one that hasn't been noted is a salami/slash/diagonal/stumpjump type cut. I use it (usually with a wedge in the highside of the kerf in larger diameter wood) when rigging wood from an overhead point.
