    another Morbark question

This is a parts chipper I bought thinking I might rebuild it. I'd say a knife holder broke loose, knife meet anvil and things went south from there. Blew the pillow bearing caps on both sides and the top guarding was gone. Must have been the scariest thing ever...

    another Morbark question

There's a reason that they are 3/4" grade-8, because that's the torque they want. We torque the 420lb as per the table for our 2400xl. Knife failures are not nice...

    The Official Work Pictures Thread

Was in Victoria B.C. last week and took a time lapse on my iPhone of your ship docking as seen from my Mom's condo. The inside passage on the journey up to Alaska passes some of the old logging settings where I worked. Mostly around Prince Rupert... <iframe width="560" height="315"...

    Class E Helmets

One I know of was a faller we had who was limbing a big spruce. Walking down the top of the log he touched a big limb under tension with the 090 and the saw went up over his head with his throttle hand still on the handle. Short guy, long bar, the saw dangled behind his back WO. Tip of the...

    Haas splice

You have to have the tubing sleeve. The nature of the 12 strand (tenex etc), to squeeze toward the middle, will prevent the bungee from traveling in the center. The length really decreases as the diameter is increased by the inner tubing, so you have to include that in the calc of the cordage...

    SAKA knee ascender...first impressions

I had wondered about if the plastic tubing was necessary? In my homemade HAAS the tendency of the tenex to squeeze under tension prevented all movement of the bungee without the tubing in place. The webbing, however, has a consistent diameter for the bungee to run in and has some limited...

New to me way of chocking a log

I imagine the issue is, as with us here in Canada, that knots are not allowed in crane work. That's why the chains, with the adjusters, are an attractive option for having an adjustable sling length. People here also work around this by having a main static sling and then use a spider-leg as a...

New to me way of chocking a log

Those are the chains we are using. Looking at the tags I think the rating is related to the 90 degree sling angle used. All the 5/16, Grade 100 components are rated to the same maximum load the sling is just derated for a very conservative lift angle. I have tried looking for the sling...

New to me way of chocking a log

Yup loggers have used bridles for ever. Jut put the knob of the choker in the other bell. Usually on a 8'+ dia piece we would bridle for the extra pulling strength and added choker length. Balances the load between the two as well. We bought those chains as well and I was explaining the...

    Stein stump debris guard

I had some custom size mesh tarps made. You can get what ever size you want with eyelets at what ever spacing you think is convenient. The stakes are steel pipe that have upper hooks and an angle iron bracket for using your foot for placement. When traveling between stumps on a job you can...

    Helmet comms

The SMH10R's come with a very strong double sided tape, I use this to attach the unit. An extra, included, piece of the double sided tape I trim and use to attach the boom mic. I use a glue gun to attach the battery and hold in place wires at various spots. Easy to remove and like the...

    Rear Mounting My Trailer

Ours has the same issue with the stick coming down to vertical faster than the pump can refill the cylinder. One thing I'd like to add to ours is a safety lockout much like an excavator or skidsteer. So easy to lean over the controls getting on or off the seat and do some unintended damage.
