Which life support 'biners?

I like oval biners the petzl ones are nice,

Petzl OK Triact Oval - Around $21, kindof pricy but works well with hitches and tending pulleys etc. light weight, positive locking (3 action), durable. Mostly i like how they load straight end to end, Ovals just seem to "work" better.

I hate the ball locks and would stay away from that crap, they just get jammed up with dust, dirt and the like.

I definitely prefer aluminum to steel being a rock guy first thats what i am used to i guess, but steel is just heavy and it will nick and dent any aluminum components you use like pulleys and such.

Just my opinion on the matter definitely not the bottom line.

I have Petzl AMD mostly. Last year I picked up one DMM steel oval to use on my eye spliced of my climbing line. I really like it because of the the weight for advancing my TIP as well as for its durability. It works well with the HC as well.

Petzl OK for me, also. Except for non locking utility biners and Revolvers that is the only type I keep on my saddle.

The problem about them, as I see it, is that they operate the opposite way of other carabiners.
So you'll have to give all your other biners away or live with never knowing which way the biner, you hold in your hand, operates.
We have one steel Rock Exotica floating around among the gear. One can always hear when it shows up, by the swearing.
Eventually someone is going to get irritated enough and toss it out.

Did you ever find a climber?

no,just more aggrivation...i dont know how come people can not show up to do a simple climbing skills test, and turn in an application on time or even on the day they say they will, i've just worked way too many hours to pull it off, and bought chiropractic care for my climber so we can keep on keepin on together..sharing the duties

I really like the Petzl AMD with the button actuated lock. Especially since a few years back they got rid of the crummy plastic barrel.
Because of the reasons brought up by Stig I wont tolerate a biner by Rock Exotica any where near the rest of my gear. I had a hard enough time getting used to the Colt Python doing what I thought to be the wrong way.

Once used to some thing such as house & car doors & what not, opening a certain way I just don't wish, as I see it, waste my time with learning this type of new.
