I removed the back seat in my extended cab Silverado. WAY more room for stashing gear. My question...

What is the name/gotta link for the replacement cover thingie that covers up the back firewall of the truck?

Anyone know whutta I mean? :?

Not sure what it is called either. You migh be able to get the plastic panel from a two door and mod it to fit?
That or get a JCWhitney cataloge and order some color matched carpet.

No, it's supposed to be for some model that doesn't have the backseat yet still covers the metal.

I bet a dealer would be able to help you. Around here we have stores like Cap-it or Lordco for aftermarket parts. Not sure exactly what you would call thepart you are after but I betcha someone makes it.

That's what I was figuring, I was just hoping someone had some experience with it.

I am seriously thinking of removing the back seat on my 2001 dodge Quad Cab and building shelves to carry gear. That way I can remove the cross bed tool box and regain the bed space for hauling.

ha! been a while since thats been seen. Too bad the new owner didnt get to enjoy the speaks for long....

Don't know, Butch. I have not done anything to my Tundra after pulling the seat. I thought about making a panel from 1/8" door skin or 1/4" plywood, that would be flexible enough to "mold" to the uneven surface, but never got up the steam to pursue it.

MB, I thought you had said the stereo got jacked soon after it was sold. I could be wrong.

I'll build a system for my Silverado eventually, but nothing too fancy. Just a new head unit, speakers, and powered subwoofer. No extra amps.

I don't get it - why do you need the cover? It is just for the aesthetics, or to protect your gear against grease or something? I may be revealing my redneck roots here, but why not just leave it?

I took out the back seat on my truck and built 2 shelves. I have a total of 5 rubbermaid storage boxes and 1 five gal. bucket carrying my 150 ft. climbing line on it. I took off the cross bed toolbox and now I have the full 8 ft. back again.

I find it much easier and faster than having to unlock the toolbox and digging through it to get something. Now everything is organized and I can get to it quickly.

Butch, most of the General Foreman's trucks at Asplundh are like that. I don't know what it's called, either, but I have seen what you are talking about.

Might pay to ask one of them GF's or look up their dealer?
