Mini valve question

My control valve started sticking in place.
You can push it forward and it will just sit there and do 360's
Has anyone had this happen, it sux as we need it all week.
It is still operable but i figured the valve would go out soon.
Its the main right lever on top that controls the right movement of the trax.
It sticks in forward and reverse and feels a bit hard to push.:cry:
 
Yep, check the linkage. Might have a worn pin, a nut that came loose, a hitch pin binding up. Something stupid like that.
If it's not the linkage it's the seals inside the valve stretching out. A very easy fix in the shop, if they have the parts. That valve should be able to be rebuilt for around $100 dpending on how hard it is to get out and back in.

Its not linkage, there aint no linkage.
It a lever leading to a valve.
The lever is solid steel, so yah the valve seals are wearing out , ALREADY ???
Only 600 hours , i changed the fluid and used the right kind.
I change the filter.
This mini has given me alot of grief and saved us an insane amount of labor.
Its always something little .
Crikey, so you guys have any idea if i can squeeze a few hours out of it ?
Parts are on order now.
 
Even with just the lever, there is still some linkage. There is a pin that it pivots on that can, and does come loose. Have a good look at it all first.

Oh come on bro .
Its a straight piece of round threaded metal.
It screws right into the valve.
The dang things break off but there aint nothing to go wrong.
I suppose it could be worn threads.
Ill check ... jus kiddin
Its in the valve i thought on the boxer 526dx that was one big master control valve.
Is it ?
Or is it 4 valves bolted together?
Actually there appears to be a dummy valve, or two, there as well.
a valve thats closed off.
What i want to know is why its wearing so quickly?No bivy has one and hes never got any problems. Right John ?
 
look under that rubber boot....Mine will freeze in position if temps go below 20....dunno what causes that, but as soon as it warms up, no biggie

Yeah we get that to about 3 times a year when its actually that cold haha.
Naw this is the dang valve.
My hydralic mechanic already said the valve is bad , but he didnt say why.
He just shrugged and smiled and took off quickly.
Hes the main on call road side crane mechanic around here ,so hes always off to fix some giant crane thats stuck in position.
One of his minions will do thew repair.
What all have you had to replace on your 526dx.
Im looking at a vermeer , very very beefy unit.
Supposedly ,the outfit is about willing to sale it at break even prices.
Apprently the construction industry here is dead.

Probaly a broken valve spool spring.

At the back of the valve there is a cover or cap usually held in with two or four screws. Remove the cap and the spring will be inside the cap. You will see if it is broken in two.

That spring keeps your valve spool centered inside the valve housing.

You can also remove the spool itself for inspection after disconnecting your lever linkages. Not really recommended if you need the machine. You can dislodge or tear out an o-ring either on the spool or inside the valve itself if it is ganged or mated with another valve in a valve bank.

If your valve is bad it is best to replace it instead of buying parts because hydraulic valves are subject to wear and scoring from comtaminated fluids. New parts might make the valve either too stiff or might be too loose and leak internally.

yeah...that happend on my lift cylinder valve on my chipper. It was easy to fix if you can get to the back...good call Axe
 
I just sprayed mine with wd 40 under the boot, moisture buildup seized it alittle. Work it back and forth and soak it pretty good. No more problems.
