Marcescence?

I'm sure you're all familiar with this condition, BUT has anyone ever seen GREEN leaves persisting throughout the winter?

I would imagine that the leaves froze before the chlorophyll had a chance to break down, but I figured I'd run it by y'all anywho.

Yeah, theres a tree in Ashland that holds its leaves till late January or Febuary, quite odd and i'm not sure what species it is

I have noticed 2 oaks here in Cville that have both still got green leaves. Quite odd. Never noticed it before.

Cool a new word for me. I had always suspected the timing of the frost had something to do with some of the trees keeping their leaves on through winter and now I know. There's a sweetgum not far from me that has its leaves on.

The thought did cross my mind. The trees that I saw it on were all pin oaks in a strech of park that the turf was fertilized on this past spring/fall.
