Locust Borer

I found these little guys splitting oak today for a customer. Looks like a locust borer.


Thought they were wasps at first... then took a closer look... Funny thing was, some yellow jackets/meat bees were hovering as we were doing the firewood about two hours in... Wonder if they knew we were exposing food for them

That larva makes me think of The Wrath of Khan. Wouldn't want one hitching a ride home on your clothes, then hiding in your hair, and crawling in your ear when you're sleeping.
