]As I was leaving to do bids Tuesday, I spotted the flicker who resides near me. Had all my camera gear with me, parked it and chased him from a topped maple to a lawn to his current fav power pole

.

Then, after bids, and visiting a heron rookery in Renton where there used to be 130 nests till a pair of eagles nested nearby--and no herons were present--, I got some shots of Barrow's goldeneneyes, buffleheads, and mallards. Then I went across the street to Waterworks Park, and got some ducks in flight..unsure of the species. Few of these shots were good, but then this downy woodpecker showed up. Within a couple minutes, I fired off scads of shots, including several of him, the early bird getting the worm, errr grub.

Damned if it didn't rain yet again today.

I love shooting my new laceleaf maple, in all conditions. And it really shines when laden with raindrops. Time to break out the tripod and 100mm macro. Ya need as much depth of field as possible, so that means a tiny aperture and sloooooow shutter speed. Mirror lockup is a must, and timer delay or remote shutter release. A couple of the really close shots represent an area probably only 10-15mm wide.

The robins were happy too.

This guy was busy preening himself, and drying out...and sneaking peeks at me standing on the roof of my canopy. Robins are such poseurs!!

Those are great bird pictures, Roger.
The grub-shots in particular.
I'm waiting for my wife and fellow birdwatcher to come home, so I can show them to her.

Roger, we are blessed to have you in The TreeHouse. Thanks for sharing your talent in regards to photography.

The robins have come and gone here. They show up in early March for one day, they gorge themselves on camphor berries and crap them everywhere. The next day they are gone.

Thanks for sharing your skill..wonderful to view those pictures. We have a Canon 70-200 mm 1:28 that I need to use and learn more about. Your pictures are inspiring...I just got out our lens. I'll play with it some today.

Not much different than most Orlando visitors? ;-)

Hey, I am going to be near Orlando flying hang gliders later this week at Wallaby. You should stop by and check it out. We should at least do lunch (no camphor berries).

Hah! I just looked at the map and I was trimming the palm trees at an industrial complex on Deen Still Road and Hwy 27 two days ago.

Brash and shocking public sexual act

And they went at it over and over again. What exhibitionists!

This amorous osprey pair were going at it all day.

I shot close to 9 gigs of raw and jpeg images yesterday. osprey, eagle, common seagulls, flicker, barrow's golden eye, crows, cormorant, thrush, blue heron, sparrow, chickadee, were all sighted.
