Built one of these, got my butt kicked in a couple of ways I didn't think I would, but live and learn, I guess. This is a large one, 5'x3'. 2 1/2" angle iron, 1/4" thick, go thicker! The third pic is where I had to box it in because it stressed and broke, I had to reinforce it there! I lost your email or I wouldn't have even started this thread.

I thought it was a maltranslation of Terraplane.

Sorry, I had to take latin in school, sometimes I can't help myself.

Sorry, I was thinker than I drunk I was last night.
It's my version of this:
<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/kz1eXfrWr18" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I built a 2" receiver mount for my mini and this just pins into that so it can float some. The stupid phone takes pics 90 deg off and I've yet to figure out how to rotate them.

I'll yell you what works slick ,an old set of bed springs ,free usually too .

If you have a big open area something like a big heavy timber, a piece of I beam or something will leave it smooth as silk .You about have to drag though .

I once graded off an old railroad siding and used a 30 foot section of 120 pound to the yard rail behind the D4 Cat .Put that old duffer in 4th gear and the smoke just rolled .

Land plane ,terra plane .Long wheel base they do better than a short coupled dozer or even shorter skid loader .

I've seen people do a pretty good job with a skid loader but I'm not one of them .

Old cable lift dozer operater told me years ago you grade by the seat of your pants .Your ass goes up the blade goes down .

A big broad expanse you can use your perifial vision to align things with perspective grade .Something like a small in town yard can be a challange though .You end up doing a lot of hand raking which quit frankly is not my thing .I'll turn that over gig to the landscapers .:)

The laser has made that skill obsolete here Al. I know a guy who has a small leveling business. He says it's hard enough to find a guy who can drive the tractor any more.
