Seattle Boat Show, New Videos and Kits, 2008 Workshops

2008 Seattle Boat Show – We’ll be there, but not in a booth!

Brion Toss Yacht Riggers will NOT have a booth at the Seattle Boat Show this year because we are so busy rigging and Brion is still recovering from his ankle surgery. However, that is no reason you shouldn’t still get our great rigging tools, books and videos at show discount prices! Buy any of our retail products between now and February 2, 2008 and receive 15% off our regular prices (we will discount your order at time of shipping). Just order online at www.briontoss.com to receive your discount!

Also, Brion will be at the show for three presentations, including a 3-hour seminar on Rig Tuning. If you are interested in talking to Brion about your boat, please contact Maria Wilson at office@briontoss.com or 360-385-1080 to schedule a meeting just before or after his presentations. For more information about his talks, go to www.seattleboatshow.com.

New! Upcoming Videos

We’ve just finished filming two new DVDs. The first one demonstrates the Liverpool splice for 7x7 wire. Not many people know how to do it anymore, but we want to keep the art and tradition alive. So, this is for all you sailors who appreciate and want to learn traditional wire splicing! We will have this DVD available by the end of February.

The second DVD is Basic Knots, which will match Brion’s upcoming new book, Working Rope Series Book 2: Basic Knots. It includes over 30 bends, hitches and other knots that are extremely useful for the sailor. This DVD will be available for sale on our website by the end of February.

2008 Workshops

Finally, here is our 2008 workshop schedule!

Jury Rigging

Saturday – Sunday

April 5-6, 2007

Ever wonder how you would react to an emergency at sea? Like so many other things it comes down to skill and attitude. In this workshop, you will learn ocean-proven techniques for putting things back in working order after they've come apart. And, just as important, you'll learn how the components of a rig function as they do, how they can fail, and how you can prevent that failure. You'll learn a variety of powerful techniques, including little-known knots and procedures. You will put your new-found skills to work aboard some actual boats and there will be lots of hands-on exercises in the shop as well. Cost: $375.00 per person. Enrollment limited to 20 people.

Rigging Your Boat

Saturday – Sunday

October 18-19, 2007

Get hands-on experience with drills, taps, rivets, tuning gauges, deck hardware, and more, plus basic information on component sizing and arrangement. ALSO, basic splicing, Stalok installation, rig layout and design/load considerations. This class details the skills and ideas needed to put a fully functional rig in your boat. Bring your rig specifications, sail and rig plan, calculator and ideas. Cost: $375.00 per person. Enrollment limited to 12 people.

Cool! Thanks for sharing with this here.

If any of you ever have a chance to travel to Port Townsend to take Brion's splicing class, I can purt-near guarantee you'll walk away over-flowing with new tips and tricks to make your splices easier.

love
