Anyone here deal with arthritis of the hands?

For over a year now the joints in my fingers and hands are usually sore. Occasionally they even swell up and become pink in color. The pain and swelling is usually more prevalent in the winter months. During the summer I may go 6-8 weeks at a time without any discomfort.
My left hand (im right handed) is usually tingling like its half asleep. This is usually during the evening hours. The pain and swelling however seems to be at its worst in the mornings.

I havent seen a doctor about it yet but plan to soon. Im only speculating it could be arthritis. Ive done some research online about it and am finding conflicting information based on my symptoms.

Somedays its so bad I cant even open a bottle of pop or water. I never really realized just how difficult everyday tasks can be when you dont have fully functioning mitts and digits.

any other tree geeks out there with hurting hands.

Mine swell up like that in the evenings after a hard day but not really in the mornings. And I've had tingly hands forever, especially when my wrists get bent while I'm sleeping. I'll have to fight with my numb mitts to hit the kill button on the alarm and wait for the circulation to return before I can properly aim my morning pee or get the coffee made.

Yeah, you ever feel like your dominant hand is sorta weak, like from too much exercise, but you can still crush stuff with your non-dominant one?

I remember when I first started using chainsaws, in the mornings for the first year or two, my hands would be sort of frozen into a gripping claw and they had to be gently opened and closed to get working right again. Thankfully, that doesn't happen anymore.

Good luck Tophopper, hopefully it's something temporary.

First appeared in my back in my 20s... There are days I just wish I did not have to go to work... Most of the time, it's ok.
Hands have it now... and they hurt in the mornings from time to time.
Most of my family gets it pretty bad later in life. I just keep on keeping on and that seems to keep things from stiffening too much for now.

I don't have hand troubles yet but the old fishermen say to piss on your hands in the morning. No joke

First I hear to pee on my feet and now my hands, too?

I'm gonna' have to drink way more water before bed.

Hand troubles come and go, some numbness in the middle of the night. I don't think it is anything permanent other than working too much, which seems pretty permanent.

Top, it sounds like you don't know for sure if it is arthritis?

I just have a mild tremble in both hands. Remind me never to shake hands with an old fisherman.

Sometimes in the winter my hands were so bad I couldn't pull on my rubber boots. And yes, pissing on your hands does ease the pain for a bit. I always laugh a little when I see a cashier at the store with wrist braces on. I'm thinking nthey have no idea of what tendonitis or arthritis can be.
