Hey I am watching the new episode of AxMen on istory and saw a couple of cool action shots.. One was a swa mount which seems pretty straight forward, the other was one where the cam was mounted on the tree to be felled which gave a pretty good shot of the sawyer as it fell...

It seems like you would just need to pick a tree you were sure wouldnt roll so it didnt crush the camera right?

Any one with any experience or ideas as far as cool ways to mount action cameras and such? I use a contour roam, there are a couple of different mounts, they all slide onto the cam with a rail system:

So you're talking about attaching a camera to a tree and cutting the tree? I'm afraid I'm too frugal to ever attempt that one.

I was thinking like a spruce or something with with a wide canopy and a really open faced notch so it stays on the stump.

I haven't tried it and probly never would have thought to, but the show just got me thinking. I don't exactly want to waste the money I spent by crushing my camera needlessly. I guess thats why I was asking if anyone had done anything similar with success.

No, I understand. I was asking separately about the vibration from the saw...

As far as the jolt from the lay, my guess is if I can break the cam without breaking the casing, I would probably be able to get them to give me a new one... :)
