    Rope

Anyone use Everkwik 12strand rope? Wesspur sells it... https://www.wesspur.com/items/ek15.html Been thinking about this for awhile. Pat's post about crappy straps got me to finally ask. I'm interested in it as a 'hardware store' rope that's better than hardware store rope. Something with...

It's also a pretty knot. It has a pleasing symmetry and form. I always admire it for a couple seconds after tying :^D

I'm a big fan. Haven't used it much for climbing, but I don't have an issue trusting it. Holds great, but still comes apart after loading. It's bulky, but lays flat, which is nice. My main anchor sling is a piece of treemaster with a zeppelin bend.

I used that on the bottle lantern I made. I couldn't tie that again without looking at a diagram.

I knew that, but I didn't know it. Ropes and cords have a natural inclination, and I've always followed that, but I couldn't explain it. Still can't. I know exactly what a 3strand rope looks like, but I'd have to hold to know which way it wants to go.

What is that; ⅝" hard lay?

That's an interesting way of visualizing forces in a knot. I wonder if that could be done literally? Film a knot being pulled to breakage using infrared, or some other temperature reader. I wonder if enough heat would be generated to clearly show everything, with enough differentiation to show...

The constrictor is a favorite of mine. I don't use it all the time, but when you need it, nothing else will do. Very handy.

Looks highly geared towards rock climbing. In that context, I don't know if it's cool or not. I know zero about rock climbing. Generally, I'm distrustful of mechanical devices, especially if there's hidden "magic" that can wear in non obvious ways, and is difficult to inspect.

How do you maintain tension when you take up the slack from the "hang" side? You have a moment where you need to fix the free end, and also get your hand off the shackle. Seems like it would be easy to lose the tension you put on it.

I like the looks of that. I'm gonna play around with it when I get some cord in-hand. I need to start carrying a piece of paracord in my pocket for practicing knots, and trying stuff out that I see. I have the need more often than one might expect. I carry a paracord prusik looped through my...

Makes sense. An infinite radius(a flat plane) would have virtually zero braking power.

I was thinking for joining ropes, attaching pulleys for redirects, progress capture... 1.2% isn't a lot, but that's at 300#. I wonder if it keeps going. Is it 3.6% at 900#? I should just try it out when failure isn't a huge problem. There's a few ways I could see it being an issue, but the...

    Rope

Any reason I wouldn't want to use this rope for rigging purposes(prusiks and such)? Diameter (mm) 9.5 MBS Rating (lb) 5,237 Elong. at 300 lb (%) 1.2 https://sterlingrope.com/store/work/ropes/water-rescue-ropes/ultraline It's a water rope with a spectra core, and polypro sheath. A little...

Clever. I think weighting the line would be prudent to help prevent lashback in case of breakage.
