Welders? Any welders on this site?

Ah I bought that one in 2020 2 weeks after signing divorce papers. I bought this one last June or July.

Not sure what you're asking is new, but basically nothing in the video is new, except the Lenox Metal Max cutoff wheel, which I'm liking so far. I bought the Millermatic 255 a couple years ago when I was building my current hook lift truck. I still have my Millermatic 185 but it basically...

Welders? Any welders on this site?

This reminded me of an interaction last week 😂 Dude leaned into it hard, posted a link to a $250 flux core welder at Lowes, told me how I needed to practice an hour and I'd be good to go, and how he built a 4x8' trailer for himself with his similar welder.

I'd like to try a ventilated hood, no boogers and if it kept me cooler that would be a win. For shop based welding it may not do everything, but if it increased comfort it would be well worth it. If you get in a bind you could always don a different setup.

Welders? Any welders on this site?

I’m happy with inverter based, to each their own. My previous mig is a 185 Millermatic, which is transformer based.

I’m a fan of Miller… they have multimatic machines that do the same although I bought a 255 Millermatic (wire welding only) as it handles most of what I need, and they had it in stock😂.

No worries, back in the day there were people complaining about pictures being embedded full size for their slow connection. I was on a slow connection then and wished they were full size. Wanted to make everyone feel welcome to use all the bandwidth, every time :)

Welders? Any welders on this site?

I could weld a plate across the back with a couple braces/gussets and call it a day. If you had desire/skill you could use tubing instead of the plate

The leads (wire) are a long term consumable, not a big deal to change them out. I'd clean it up, stretch out the leads (or tape) them so they don't short and give it a test. If it checks out, spend the money on new leads and you're off to the races!

Welders? Any welders on this site?

Stick is versatile, although I much more commonly use MIG for shop work. Normally I use solid wire, although dual shield (shielding gas plus flux core) can increase penetration, deposition rates, contamination tolerance, and less likely for the shielding gas to be blown away. Flux core that...

Welders? Any welders on this site?

I'm a Miller fan. The Millermatic 200 of old was a transformer based MIG machine whereas the current 200 is an inverter based machine. I assume you're comparing those two based on price point? What thickness of aluminum? I have a Millermatic 185, the transformer based MIG machine. I would...
