the stopper is sort of like a spring that engages the wrench for you in a way so you don't have to engage the wrench manually like with the ZK 1. it is hard to get that action with the zk1 because the side plates are too far apart.

I tries an aluminum bar as a tether. The flexible stiff tether allows for the whole setup as compact as your hitch when up on a spar or close to tie in. It a completely stiff tether it makes the wrench system a bit lengthy

Yeah, I wish we could have found a way to have the runner to be cheaper. But unlike the wrench it is a complicated piece of gear with lots of parts and more liability.

The stiff tether with a bumper makes a world of difference. As you have it right now it requires a manual engagement before sitting back. With a stiff tether and a bumper to engage it you don't have to think about it.

Dave is right, there is nothing better than a hitch based system for climbing. The rw as a concept is as close as you can come to the idea of simplicity. I can go to any tree in the world with just a rope and no hardware and with my own skill climb srt. A pocket knife and a peice of deadwood...

Hmm, I still think one of the greatest things about stationary rope is the base tie and not isolating the limb. It allows for so many options. I usually find two time the force oriented down the stem to feel more secure than a single canopy TIP that can be exposed to forces across the grain

A Dremel tool is useful. 45 degrees is about right. Concentrate on smooth surfaces

the industrial rope access guys also make excellent options for rope protection that would be worth it working on cliffs
