What if you welded a plate on the underside of the Cchannel, rear most support of your hitch. I know a boxed section has more resistance to torsional flex than just Cchannel.

Try holding a tighter arc like lightly dragging the rod against the flux coating as it’s melting. 7018 are usually a joy to run in my experience.

Reason #947 to own a welder. Weld shrinking a blown seized bearing race. The press managed to press out everything else but left me this nugget of frustration. Molten metal for the win!

Looks good! I would add another cross brace under the mount. I don’t know if it will work but I can see a lot of torsion on the center box section, and the off center placement of the mount adding to it.
