I was starting a new thread and this one popped up as similar. Looking through the pics I noticed the chain and wanted to make a safety note about chain coming from my industrial and off road recovery background. Chain (steel in general) strength can vary a LOT. Unrated hardware store chain...

I had another theory: wrap it tight so as not to barber chair, and then back cut from the back until it goes, leaving a lot of hinge to slow the fall vs. bore and trigger which I would assume would drop fast.
…but I have done barber chairs intentionally as a learning exercise before as well and I could see that working:evil:…or not. :) Trees are like a box of chocolates.
I like the chain or strap to prevent barber chair, wide open face, and then slowly do the back cut…or multiple back cuts to spread it out and slowly lower like the “bender” cut for slowly lowering limbs.
