saws with mind of their own

No, gas can always in tool box, relatively cool. No doesn't matter, I guess cuz saw is already warm/hot. Yes, I think so- gas which exploded out of tank opening, the remainder appeared to be bubbling.

saws with mind of their own

Alrighty then. The above post was 4/13/23. Today, 4/29/24, was an exact duplication of last year- first 80* day of the year, warm saws won't start, remove 201 fuel cap and fuel fully explodes out of the tank, spraying everywhere. And yes, It's a problem when you cut wood for a living and your...

saws with mind of their own

Lil follow up here. I took the saw which popped and died to the dealer, they made me feel both very dumb and very happy when they removed the loose spark plug, replaced it with new, and saw runs perfectly. :big-not-worthy::rockhard::big-bat::big-bat::big-bat::big-bat::big-bat::big-bat:

I'll look it over and see if anything jumps out. Its just curious to me so far- cutting perfect but wouldn't idle.

saws with mind of their own

Well, I used the saw again today planning to cut up a bunch of logs into firewood, it was still acting up by not idling so I said yeah ok and against all good sense I revved to 75-100% throttle and left it there for a bit....after 30-45 seconds it let out a pop and died. Wouldn't restart...

saws with mind of their own

I see Sea Foam has been around awhile, is it anything like Marvel Mystery Oil? Could it do any harm to the other saws all of which run perfectly?

saws with mind of their own

Yes I had that vaguely in mind and think I did that cutting firewood non stop for a tank and a half. I idled it in between some cuts as a new log was presented to me by the excavator. Am I supposed to keep it full throttle for 3 -5 min whether cutting or not? Seems like that would blow up the saw

saws with mind of their own

re the OP, the problem with warm weather operation seems to have disappeared presumably with the onset of summer grade gasoline. However one of my 576's is still acting up. It's a back up saw and I thought maybe it still had a partial tank of winter gas in it but I went thru over a tank and a...

I always understood that one should use the mid grade for saw gas.

I go thru approx 5 gal/week. Premixed seems pricey but something's gotta give over here

saws with mind of their own

I called the dealer, he said it's likely the gasoline. I went online and learned about summer gas and winter gas. Apparently the changeover is happening currently. If I still have problems monday I guess I'll have to buy some premixed. Thx again for info, Nutball et al.

the 572 has a bulb, I guess it's a purge bulb, I played with it some, I'll try it some more. Yeah I guess it must be the fuel since multiple saws are affected. I'll call the saw dealer, see if he has additives.

saws with mind of their own

Shit's getting crazy. Warm again today, 80*. Husky 572 acting up again but I didn't use it much today, used my main 201 which until this week is always a beast of a small saw. At one point, I couldnt get it started no matter what I did. That is a first. Got another, old 201 going to finish the...

They don't make chipless saws anymore, do they? When that EMP hits, bust out the crosscut saw :headbang:

saws with mind of their own

More good info, thx. Some of that stuff I already do but I'll give the choke/kill a try. Warm again today and I was doing something I never do which is let it idle for a minute or two before needed for the next cut. Normally I always shut a saw down, after a bit of cooling with mid speed revs...
