I want the heatshrink to be more permanent. Everything 'old' with heatshrink it always falls off...

I want to use a gluestick, plain old elmers/school type, to apply adhesive to the throat of a splice to attach a label. Then I want to put some more glue on the label and put heatshrink over it and shrink it down tight. Any problems with glue on the rope?
