When I had chickens at that house mice turned up not long after. Then the owls came, I think there was an Eastern Barn Owl first. Boobooks were all around that area anyway. But the one that stayed for years was a Powerful Owl, still there when I moved out and the chickens long gone. I've...

Season 2 Episode 1. I was pretty busy with work at that time and just moved into my old house in Sydney. Plenty to do there so never watched tv much. Now I've watched Season 1 & 2, was interesting. The follow up movie Fire Walk With Me, terrible. Tempted to put John on Ignore. Then Twin...

They're big birds, the White-bellied sea eagle here is around the same size. Never seen one in the wild because I don't get to the coast, but saw one in a private zoo once in a cage. Those zoo's are gone now thankfully, terrible thing to do to it. Video just for size, don't like these places...

They're big birds, a bit about them here. http://www.sea-eaglecam.org/index.html If that video link doesn't work click on the live video at the bottom...

I was cleaning up the chicken house one day and took two eggs outside and put them on a stump, a crow came down and took one. He flew up into the big gum next door and stashed it. I grabbed the other one and went back inside, he never saw me. He came back for it and couldn't believe it was...

I thought this was the bird watching thread, not the bird shooting thread. This guy took 150 shots at a Bald Eagle, not to kill it but to cut the branch it was tangled in. Not too easy with a .22...

    I think everyone has seen this. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/apX0WlWNGBw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> This one didn't do quite as well. It's from a movie BROTHERS OF THE WIND. <iframe width="560" height="315"...

Yuck. That was an old trick here to keep crows away, they'd never go near where a dead one was hanging. Now they hang out around McDonalds & KFC and don't take much notice of people at all.

I remember that. Never seen a Cowbird but I saw Catbird race. Won quite a few dollars on that race and haven't had a bet since. The other Catbird. http://www.birdsinbackyards.net/species/Ailuroedus-crassirostris <iframe width="560" height="315"...

Be careful what you wish for. Hardly ever saw these here until the last drought. A lot of birds came here looking for water but these things are everywhere now, they had to cull some in the city parks. They love Canary Island Date Palms. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_white_ibis I...

Stig was talking about starlings somewhere a few weeks ago and I just saw this. We had flocks of them and sparrows when I was a kid, nothing like this though. Introduced of course but I haven't seen either for years now, the Asian Minor has taken a toll on a lot of birds around here. "These...

There's a Powerful Owl that hangs around here, been here for years but I've only seen him once. He calls at night a fair bit, comes and goes for weeks. Not my picture either. Sounds like this.http://www.birdsinbackyards.net/sites/www.birdsinbackyards.net/files/factsheets/audio/ninox-strenua.mp3

I planted that Pin Oak in March '91 to stop the morning sun, and a few other trees for the afternoon. It's nice on a hot day when I get home.:hotsun: There's a mulberry tree behind it that's why he comes, free food and shade.
