They had one decent size saw and nobody there can sharpen a chain. They buy new chains when it gets dull. The center between the 4 leads was full of dirt and compost. It took him almost 15 minutes to make the stump cut, that chain wasn't making another pass through that stump. I could have done...

I posted this in another thread, but want to put it in here for future use. Last week I had a stump I couldn't lift. If I had my pallet forks with me I could have drug it across the yard to the log pile without tearing up the yard. Instead the guys hooked a chain around it and drug it with the...

Got my pallet forks 3 weeks ago, today I had my welder make a spot for them on the trailer. They slide into two 2x6 tubes under the bed.

I thought I had a separate thread for my loader, I guess not. Anyway, 115 hours on it so far and yesterday we ripped a palm tree out of the ground and I loaded it. The root ball was just about the max I can pick up. When I extended the forks it tipped the machine forward.

I was thinking of this post this morning as I attempted to insert a small rivnut. I have had 100% success with larger rivnuts (5/16, 3/8") but I've never used the smaller ones. Tried twice to insert a 10-28 and failed both times. Gave up and used a different method. Thanks! :pissed: Also to...

My glove box came in the mail yesterday. An 18" drywall mud pan. I filed the lip because it was very sharp. I installed it this morning using two rivet nuts. Amazon- rivet nut kit

There is angle iron along the front of the rack to hook the lip of the bucket. It's very secure. As for the grapple mounting plate, there really isn't a good place for it. But when standing on the ground, the fender (and open trailer door) are under it. And when in the trailer it is at waist...

I have a full roll of DOT red and white alternating reflective tape. I still need to finish painting them first, then I'll add some reflective tape where needed. I'm pretty much guaranteed to bust my forehead open on the bucket rack within the next 60 days.

The main objective is getting all the attachments to the job without having them in a pile in the back of the truck. And not having to pull them out and stack them in a pile in the client's front yard while you're working. Tree guys setting up camp in the client's front yard is one of my biggest...

I spent 4 hours at my welder's shop this morning and this is what I got. A 'bread rack' style rack for the bucket and another bracket on the side for the BMG grapple. The root rake grapple will typically be on the machine when loaded and will fit under the back of the bucket rack. The BMG rack...

OK I just had another idea. I have almost no storage on the mini loader for things like safety glasses, a lifting strap, a pair of gloves, whatever. I need a glovebox. I was considering fabricating something and bolting it in place but then I thought of a drywall mud pan. I have a 'dash' area...

Getting more practice on my Avant. Picked up 3 tons of 57 gravel (recycled crushed concrete) to start freshening up my driveway and it only took me about 20 minutes to spread it. I will need at least 4-5 more loads so I will get plenty of practice. When I first did the driveway 5 years ago I...

Scoops went up by another 200 in the last 2 weeks. The broom is $1200 now! Insane prices. https://www.branchmanagerusa.com/

No, but extended cabs are hard to find. I bought it used 2.5 years ago. Just turned 70K miles.

You mean this truck? I'd prefer not. I still can't bring myself to consider it a work truck.

Those scoops look fairly heavy (at over $1000 there must be a few hundred lbs of steel). Do you have any method of storing them or do you just throw them in the trailer using the grapple?

I could, but it doesn't fit very well and I don't plan on using the bucket very often, maybe 5% of my work. I prefer not having to deal with it every time I want to load or unload the machine just to set it aside. I would end up grabbing it 20 times for every time I actually need it. I prefer...

    Mini Skids

I finally got the correct bucket for my loader today and still waiting on my BMG style grapple. The loader is bigger than I expected and the trailer isn't as big as I thought so it's a tight squeeze. My biggest concern is how to carry all three attachments and still be able to use the trailer...

Just got back from the local Giant/BMG distributor. The guy was a real piece of work. After telling me how great the Giant was compared to the Avant, he told me he has nothing in stock but is getting 3 machines in January. So I switched to discussing attachments. The 'universal' mount doesn't...
