    Stihl-fings aint what they were...

Reading the handbook (shock horror for me!),it emphasises you can only do that if the battery is decently powered up,say at 70%?And also only do that a limited amount of times,I guess its a big hit on the battery.Nice idea, but the little saw does ok on 5 ah batteries, I'm guessing in an ideal...

Yes,I,ve got one,and its not hugely powered t.b.h.,its got a clever carb, the saw chain wont run at all when idling. Its a bit unwilling to fast run the chain when cold. Also the actual machine head is quite big to get into congested areas if you understand me.I'm now doing much more with the...

I'm not totally impressed with most presige brands offer re:warranty.Stihl/makita/Honda give you 2 years as a homeowner, which is fair.Commercially, you get 3 months, which I regard as taking the piss t.b h,for example-you might buy your chainsaws/blowers in high summer to get the best dealer...

    Stihl-fings aint what they were...

Sorry folks,If I've rubbed folks up the wrong way,I DID point out,I tend to be a stihl loyalist. But,I think modern stuff IS going downhill-irrespective of the brand. My local husky dealer wont stock their mowers anymore-unacceptable failure rates,7 of the handheld blowers he sold out of 12 came...

Soz if I've upset anyone-and nope I'm totally not a serious climb up big trees bloke,but-I've spent God knows how many thousands of pounds on mainly small engined machines,so,I've learned what is good, what is hyped, and what is absolute crap,as I see it,dont matter what it runs-the engine is the...

Soz stig, dont get your point there, you admit modern stihls are shit!?Or you're too stuck in your ways to change,or you're not prepared to look at battery stuff,or possibly you just use top-end stihl forestry saws and look down at oafs such as I?Or possibly you're A dyed-in the wool black and...

Yeh,is old better? I've a extremely old stihl 038 super in my shed, which sits idle most summers,I can top it up about Oct-3d pull, off we go.The newer 250,if I pull that out weekly-its a bloody miracle if it starts and runs reliabily -tho much better with a cheapo chinese carb on!

    No mick,stihls loss-makita's gain.I'm a firm believer in you buy cheap-you buy twice.I've got a lot of makita workshop stuff-Impact drivers/wrenches/drills and lately hedgetrimmers/brushcutters and chainsaws-zero failures.Admittedly I'm talking about lion battery stuff here,but with stihl-both...

    Stihl-fings aint what they were...

To be clear,I dont start this as a stihl 'hater',but more of a loyal user, latterly, I'm encountering more and more issues with their products.I tend to buy their brushcutters/clearing saws-The odd forestry chainsaw, and some of their 'home owner' smaller chainsaws, and towards the top end or mid...
