One of my 088s was running a bit funny, could not get the carb tuned, didn't seem to have power. I thought I opened this.carb up before. Guess not.

I knew I was half decent at rebuilding carbs. I guess my problem was bad timing.

I did pressure test the needle, and replaced it anyways. What height should the needle arm/lever be? What pressure should the needle hold?

What's the correct height? I've been looking for that information.

The carb holds 7psi steady and pops off at 14psi. I do take the spark plug out and pull it over on it's side.

I can get the saw to run, or at least burp and smoke then flood, but I have to let it sit for a few days.

I got it to run, I wanted to do more carb adjustments but it flooded on me again. :(

I did the pressure and pop off test, held 7psi no problem and popped off at 14 psi

The lever is just a few thou proud of the surface.

I'll have to recheck that. Seems a new carb is not available from Stihl up here.

088 fired up today, adjusted the carb to keep it running, needs more adjustment. Put on a new oil pump spur gear, assembled the rest of the drive side, topped off fuel and bar oil, saw fired to life, then floods out. Yeah, I think I'll try another carb. A little video of it actually running.

Had a good rest, so the cold cylinder built up 130psi. Carb pop off test at 14psi. I did replace the pull cord, doesn't seem like I get a good pull length. Going to try a different one.

I tape the throttle open.

I'll see what I can pump the cylinder up to tomorrow, when I get some strength back. The Stihl site says 110psi is the minimum.

Up here carbs are a bit pricey and take a while for delivery.

Going to try one off my other saw. It was a strong running saw till the crank broke. I did pressure test the carb, held 7psi no problems, I'm going to see what PSI it pops up at. Cylinder did make 100 PSI cold, but after pulling it so many times not sure if I had the strength to get it higher.

Took the carb off, cleaned it all up, checked it over, I rebuilt it not long ago, still floods, am I missing something?
