I know a local Tree company with a Giant. It seems like they like it.

Hopefully it's way better than the Blue diamond or whatever piece of junk we are using. I've seen a couple different versions of BD and they were all bad.

Yep, that's the one I've used before, but on a ditch witch. It is so useful, controllable and efficient in my opinion. The new ones seem to have the extra pivot, above the rotating hinge, that can't be locked. I'm just looking ahead if I can convince my new boss to get a mini, I want that...

Does vermeer often change the design of the log grapple, or do they still make the older versions? I'm just curious because it seems hard to find much info on vermeer and DW attachments online. I much prefer the style pictured below, though I haven't tried the newer ones, but I fear they have...

Just don't tip it over. I heard about a gas one catching fire, total loss, when it tipped over. Diesel won't do that as easily.

DW has right side exhaust, kinda has to be in front of the operator given where the operator stands, but I don't think I've ever noticed a whiff of it. I drive backwards with almost any load, that way if it tips forward and the load hits the ground it will drag instead of digging into the ground.

Looks dangerous, hard to get off of if it tips backward. When standing it is 100% natural to step off when it tips over backward, that relieves a lot of back weight allowing it to tip forward again.

I'd think operation would be much less efficient trying to chase the machine around all the time. I'd weld up some type of spring support under the platform. Some models come with rubber springs which help some, but can still be hard on the knees after many hours. The solution to loading on a...

I would add some lead or steel, not too much though, maybe just 50lbs to the back riding platform. You don't want it too easy to tip backward when unloaded (such as when driving uphill). I've always wanted extra weight in back on a sk800, but I'm only 145lbs. I have doubled up with a 180lb guy...
