20yrs old and runs well - will the “new offerings” from both STIHL and Husqvarna be running 20yrs from now ? Possible ... imho no Some of them will be, most will be long since chucked away like the vast majority of 064s

It’s funny you say that Nutballs. That was the running theme throughout the thread. Check it out, there’s a few laughs. https://arbtalk.co.uk/forums/topic/115688-stihl-photo-competition-win-a-model-stihl-ms500i/?page=12

Interesting viewpoint Jed. I had an early 540, nice saw, but the chainbrake broke and to replace it I needed to buy a new engine casing, so I sold it on.

As a guy who knows these saws inside out, what specific saws are lemons? Only pro saws obviously.

I enjoy the saw chat from you guys that really know your stuff. Long may it continue.

Because no one would buy them at that price. According to a couple of sites in the UK they’ll be a lot less.

I don’t believe you’ll have to pay that, or anything near that.

I spoke to my Stihl dealer, he said the only thing holding it back was training the mechanics. Tbh I’m a bit short of money atm, new chipper and all that. It’ll have to wait.

I have an 076, it does cut well and sound nice, but would I use it by choice instead of my other big saws? Absolutely not.

Fun for hobbyists, but don’t see any in the back of trucks. Besides, the 056 came out in 1980, so if you bought the first model aged 18 and you had a son when aged 25 who had a son when aged 25 the kid would be 7 years old now. I suppose he could have bought it aged 40, but that ruins the maths:)

When did grandpa ever hand his grandson a chainsaw? If he did it would be a heavy gutless pos.

So overall Stig, do you like the saw or not? Too much fence sitting by you if I’m honest.

Ok thanks Magnus, how does having sump oil in a hand held device react to being used upside down etc?
