Which equates to how tight you make your turns and how much slack there is in your stopper knot. Five turns with my set up right now works well for me (185 + gear).

That's a wide door you just opened. I'm running Sterling Tendril and Armor Prus at the moment and it works fine but the key is getting your hitch dialed in. The looser the hitch, the easier it tends but the greater chance it will slip when weighted.

I'm with you Sean. If the ground guy has his stuff together, and it's at the beginning of a job, he's usually not too busy on a long spur climb, but I certainly understand that efficiency = money in your pocket. 10-4 on the miles too, once again, efficiency of movement saves your body. I am all...

Sean, I tried the weighted line but the rope tied off with a little slack in it feels like it gives me a little more maneuverability. I'm going to continue to experiment with it.

You're way ahead of me Randy, I should've checked out your vids!

I've been trying something for a few weeks that has worked well so far and I'm just curious if anyone else ties off the tail of their climbing line when spiking up SRT with the Hitch Hiker. I've been using my over the shoulder tending strap while climbing and with the climbing line tail tied...

Tim, instead of clipping into my bridge ring with the HH biner, I clip into another steel carabiner on my bridge. When it comes time for a redirect, it's simple to unclip, pass or toss the whole system over a limb, clip back in and keep going. No untying your hitch, taking micro pulleys loose or...

Peter, I made a tender out of a piece of 1" webbing trimmed and shaped up with a hot knife to seal the edges with holes for the biner melted into it and covered the whole thing with 5200 marine sealant from 3M. I made the holes a little small and along with the rubber in the 5200, it stays in...

Biner in place of bridge ring, everything stays together on redirects. I had to take down a couple of of live oaks this afternoon, yes, branches everywhere, plenty of solid wood just can't get a high tie in in them, feels like walking a trapeze on some of the limb walks. Getting really hot here...

Me too Raj but that's about the only negative I can come up with so far. I've been running it on Tendril for the last couple of weeks. Smoooth

Is anyone using Sterling Tendril with the HH?

I'm not a wrencher either Fi but I do like the HH. On pines though, it seems like it only takes one drop of sap to nearly lock it up. I've been using another steel oval instead of the bridge ring and disconnects/reconnects are made much easier and faster.

Dave, I understand what you and GC are saying, I can see that using the bridge ring with the pulley could be a pain. I'm using another carabiner in place of the bridge ring and it makes connecting and disconnecting the system very simple. I like simple! I rarely take the HH off my climbing line...

Dave and GC, I use a homemade aluminum tending pulley with free swinging cheek plates that seems to work fine but I know there must be more of an advantage to the cutout eye than just a couple of seconds installation time on the 'biner. I can see a small disadvantage in the chance for it to pop...

I suspect the next generation of HHs might have an integrated pulley for slack tending.
