    My father's axe

Some of us have spend an inordinate amount of time with a claw hammer in hand. I've legit worn a few out. I also "accidentally" killed a raccoon with one once, but that's a story for another beer.

    My father's axe

From one of the men who quite literally wrote our textbooks... I know hero worship makes you uncomfortable Gerry, but you happen to sit atop a mountain of talent, skill, experience, and wisdom. Sometimes it's OK to sit back on that seat, get comfy.

From what I understand poll refers to the side opposite the blade. Whether a flat striking surface or just rounded like my Condor, still a poll. Battle axes have polls, some are spiked.

    My father's axe

I took a class on cross cut felling. A proper saw makes a huge difference, it's still no job for the faint of heart.

    My father's axe

I was always told that felling axes don't have polls. Dunno how true that is.

    My father's axe

@stikine knows what pattern axe this is, but I don't lol. I like it quite a bit, swings like an axe, splits like a maul. Full length of handle is 36 inches.

GrAnSfOrS with am oomloutt, which I undoubtedly spelled wrong. On purpose. And because I can't be bothered to look it up. Stig, I want you to know, that in all seriousness, you are one of the highlights of my day! I love you, thank you for being the you that I have met here on this forum. Now...

    My father's axe

Crap, I'm on the wrong phone, I don't have pics of the Axes I was just recently gifted. A Gransforce Bruk (or however you spell the Swedish Bork Bork axe company) and a Condor out of El Salvador. Both are quite nice axes. I'll get some photos up soon, as I'd like everyone's opinion on just what...

    My father's axe

Sean, ive tried that a few times. In fact, the splitting block by the house is as you describe. Noticing a lot of bounce. If a piece doesn't split, it sticks to the axe and comes up 8 inches off the block. Kinda odd. Maybe that was an evergreen desert rubber tree, idk

    My father's axe

You've mentioned your friend Tom before, and there's a real high chance that he and my wife know each other, at least in passing. My beloved works at the Showlow O'Reilly Auto parts, she meets everyone. If I come off my windy ridge, it's for trees. No, I would never spell my name with that...

    My father's axe

Mr. Burnham, this is yours if you want to come get it, I'm in Show Low, AZ. Bit of a drive I know... It looks a bit grubby but seems to be in perfect working order. Haven't tried to start it in the cold, but there's not much could be wrong with it. Also, very nice axe! I'd have my...
