    Years ago there was someone here (I think) that made a bucket scabbard out of 3" or 4" pvc pipe. Some cutting on it and the rest was thermoformed with the kitchen oven.

    It’d get chewed up eventually but sure wood would work for a while. Try to keep the chain brake off so the chain rolls rather than drags the cutters across it.

    Looks much nicer than the ones they sell, and those things are expensive! Are you gonna put a strip of poly sheet or something like that inside it?

    Also bolted a small boat trailer winch to my usual lowering device for smallish lifts and pre-tensioning. Got the idea from the Stein 3001 winch.

    Needs some paint, and you're good to go. I was thinking about trying a non self tailing. There's always big strong ones going for around 100$ or so on ebay, and it can't be much to just tail it by hand. Or buy a " wincher" , a self tailing add on, I think Barient makes them.
