I always admire you west coasts guys big wood. Awesome
Your in the right area cold logging for 1/2" b/c inventory. Lots of old Stihl dealers tucked away in the hills with this stuff. Stihl made good 1/2" chain.
I can see a 084/880 / 3120Xp ffitting in with a tree services stable of saws.
Equip it with a 36-42" bar with a huge 1/2" pitch chipper chain. Now you have a saw for the big dirty jobs, cutting through nails, gravel...........
File that puppy with a 1/4" file and watch how much life you can get...
I woods and race ported my first saws 35 years ago and from what I hear what the experts do today techniques are still basically the same. I have never bothered to mod some one else's saw, I guess myself being able to make a living with a saw.......why bother making a living with a wrench.

Lately...

I got 2 almost brand new shiny like chrome [noses included] 36" Oregon bars and haven't used them for years. And I do take down some 36" over bdh hardwoods at least once a week.
And yes I do have a 60" on my since retired as a shelf queen :lol:090AV
I guess I didn't mention that I always wanted to own a 3120XP "modified" for timbersport competiton........just another expensive toy:)
A old logging buddy of mine bought a 3120 with a portable sawmill for his wood lot and he's getting lots of use out of it.
Nick, your 460 probably is all you'll need with 24-28" b/c.
My 372-24" will take over what my main saw 562-20" won't do. My 395-32" has been collecting dust in storage lately along with my two 066s and 090AV. I always wanted to own a 3120 though, saw was first introduced in 1989 and I don't...
