Yeah...his photo is of 8mm bee line and like you, 8mm anything doesn't work for me. From the post on arbtalk, it sounds like he's tried the standard HH hitch with a variety of wraps and a few VT variations. Al...step up to 10mm tech cords and also try other friction hitches like the distel.

I haven't tried Cougar Blue yet but Bee Line Blue and a distel hitch work very well for me with Yale 11.7s, Platinum, and HTP and Fly. I'm ~185 lbs geared up. Treestuff shows 3 types of Armor-Prus as 'in stock'.

Any Rope Wrench or Hitch Hiker users here?

I started with a HH and eventually got a RW out of curiosity. While the RW works well, I never really warmed up to it and always defaulted to the HH. Now I usually go for the BDB first and then the RR. However, I miss a well set up HH enough that I climb on it just for the pleasure...

I got some more climb time on it today and took a couple more photos. The rope pretty well fills up the space between the pulley sheave and the bridge ring and helps to keep it oriented to a position that keeps it hooked on even if it wasn't a tight snap on fit.

LOL...MS Paint. How unimpressive is that? On the ground, getting the pulley on and off to connect/disconnect the HH from the bridge is a pain (to me). In the tree, with the weight of 70'+ of rope hanging below, it gets increasingly difficult to get everything in a position where the biner gate...

I cut mine with a small bump so it "snaps" on. I don't have much time on it yet, but I'm not anticipating any problems with it coming off.

Any Rope Wrench or Hitch Hiker users here?

Yes, knee ascender (SAKA) and foot ascender is the only way to go. I have two BDB's (one I made and fine tuned to Yale 11.7's) and a RR that see the most use, but the HH with a well matched hitch and rope is a thing of beauty. Nothing compares to it's two finger release and ease of tuning to any...

I've used the ISC Fixed Sideplate Micro Pulley and the DMM Pinto Pulley with good results. The advantage of the more expensive Pinto is that it's becket is life support rated and has clearance to attach a biner. Not important to me but might be nice for work positioning.

Correct. Also, the HH advances well while ascending with your chest harness/neck lanyard/etc. either clipped to the bridge ring with a pulley or to a tether on the top of the biner. Where I find the use of a pulley out performing, is when tending slack by hand as when limb walking or climbing limbs.

Your's looks to be rounded about the same as mine. I'm also wondering if fiction with the slick pin is just pulling the fuzz off of the "well used" rope.

That's not right. The pulley edges on mine are nicely rounded.

If you find the need to try another hitch later on, I've been having very good results with the distel hitch.

I give them as much bark, dirt and leaves as they could want. Is there a better food choice? Pet them huh? Ummmmm.....maybe....if no ones watching.

That IS what I tell them. And then they hit the fork. Maybe more specific like "Listen, throwbag! If you don't go through that fork, I'm gonna KICK YOUR ASS!!!";)

Apparently I need to be more specific when speaking to my throw bags.

Thanks TreeCutterDoug. I bought 12' of the Sterling RIT 9mm and gave it a try today. Platinum 11.5/HH/RIT 9mm/distel hitch. VERY nice combination on the first try. I hope it handles as nice with a little wear. Went up 80' in an ash and on the way down I did several start/stops, inch down...
